Rudiments and theory of Silence is the highly anticipated new album from New Telepathics, recorded in Auckland 2008 after the Aotearoa ‘You Have Been Warned!’ tour –
New Telepathics is the music of producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Darryn Harkness who relocated himself and ‘The Institute Of Telepathic Research’ back to New Zealand after 9 years based in London and East Germany.
2009 marks the 10th anniversary of New Telepathics in which time along with his international collective of ‘Research Agents’, including Hugh Vicars (The Orb UK), Sandy Mill (Spacesuit, SJD), Alistair Deverick (Hot Grits, The Shades), Matt Brennan (Cosmic Rays Of Death), Shanon Fraser, Oliver Emmitt and Dave Davies (The Sun Ra Arkestra USA), Harkness has twisted and pushed musical boundaries with his fusion of rock, electronica, jazz, dub and the avant-garde.
New Telepathics have toured in over 20 countries with performances at dozens of international festivals including Reading & Leeds UK, The Edinburgh Festival Scotland, Pukkelpop Belgium, Bennicasm Spain, Terremoto Germany and many more.
The nerve centre of New Telepathics is The Institute Of Telepathic Research, from where Harkness writes, records, paints and works with experimental photography, super 8 and digital film.
