Cobra Khan’s 2005 emergence from the wreckage of New Zealand hard hitters Sommerset, Day One and Balance has provided the Auckland rock scene with a band that is more than the sum of its parts. They’ve played shows big and small over the last few years, building on the live reputation of their previous endeavours to a point where their loyal local following looks forward to Cobra Khan’s now somewhat semi-annual live performances.
Since the 2006 release of their mini album Sleepless Lions Cobra Kahn has built on the live reputation of their previous incarnations, garnering a big and loyal local fanbase.
But disinterested in retreading old ground and playing to the conventions, Cobra Khan have sidestepped genre restrictions and audience expectations to make their debut album Helgorithms which was released in October this year.
Boasting heavy hooks and guitar-driven joints that push the boundaries of contemporary metal and punk rock, Cobra Kahn come to the studio with a set list sure to impress.
