486mhz to Rock The Party ....
While most of us at a young age all possessed the skills in constructing metal structures and moving contraptions, Greg Locke's never faded. A small town genius, Greg is the inventor, musician and brains behind this project. Project the “The Trons”
The Trons are a completely self playing robot garage band. They are made from salvaged computer and mechanical parts, playing original songs using an array of old amps and instruments. They list their influences as VU, the Clean, Stereolab and the like and as a four piece band they embrace guitar fuelled riffs and bass line hooks that will mesmerize any audience. Although mechanically quite simple they groove uncannily like a human band... the use of flimsy and junky materials contributing to their organic sound. Vocals are currently supplied by looped phonetics sung through the lead singer’s giant horn head, and live shows include real-time video projections from cameras mounted on the instruments. Believe me, there is something eerie and unique hearing robots strum out a perfect rendition of “Smoke on the Water” one thing is for sure, the timing is impeccable.
The Trons have just arrived back from PARIS and are looking to be on the line up for Big Day Out 2009, with bookings in Austria next year and huge interest internationally this band with an IBM 486mhz computer is set for big things....
